If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
Decorating cookies always starts with a good royal icing recipe. This is my easy royal icing recipe for sugar cookies that I always use.
For this Valentine mug cookie set, you will need the following suggested colors:
- Red icing (I used Americolor Super Red.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Teal icing (I mixed Americolor Sky Blue with a touch of Americolor Mint Green.)
- Light Brown icing (I used Americolor Warm Brown with a touch of Mint Green.)
- Gray icing (I mixed a small amount of the Teal icing with Americolor Ash in fresh white icing.)
Step 1
Starting with the whipped topping cookie, begin by filling in the cookie with white icing. Let that icing crust over.
Then add the red heart detail, as shown. Let this icing set for about 20 minutes.

Step 2
Next, add the brown stick detail at the bottom of the heart. Then add the gray whipped outline.
Lastly, add the sprinkle details. I attached actual sprinkles with a dot of icing.

Step 3
For the mug cookie, begin by filling in the main mug area with teal icing. After the icing sets, fill in the handle section with the same icing, as shown.

Step 4
For the lettering, I made sure the base layer of icing dried completely.
In the shop is this You warm my Heart cookie stencil you can use for the lettering. Just swipe thick white royal icing over it to apply it to the cookie. The video below better illustrates how I did this.
