The last time I was here, we made bunny faces. This time around, get ready to decorate their "other side".

Bunny tail cookies are such a joy to make. And easy! There's no face details to worry about and it's always more fun when sprinkles are involved.

Today, I'm going to show you how to create this new bunny & carrot cookie platter. It's great for both Easter and general spring-themed get-togethers. And when bunny tails and a cheery, spring time color palette are in the mix, I dare anyone to not have a smile on their face. This Easter cookie platter is definitely smiling-inducing and gets me so ready for spring to arrive.

Bunny & Carrot Cookie Cutter Set

New this spring season is this Easter bunny & carrot cookie platter set. This set includes 3 cookie cutters: a carrot pair, a bunny tail, and a center circle. You can purchase all 3 cookie cutters together, or as a 2-piece without the circle cutter.

(This is the same circle cutter used in all my platter sets, like this Snowflake set, Spiral Platter, and Floral Wreath, etc.)

There are two sizes available. When arranged as a platter, as shown in the example picture, the platter measures:

LARGE- 12 inches in diameter.

SMALL- 9 inches in diameter.

For this tutorial, I'll be decorating the large size.

Template for the Easter Bunny & Carrot Cookies

To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all of the new Easter cookie cutters, including this bunny & carrot cookie platter design.

You can download all the 2021 Easter cookie templates HERE.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.

The Cookie Decorating Process

For this Easter cookie platter, you will need the following suggested colors:

Step 1

Let's start with the bunny tail cookie. Begin by filling in the lower head and body section with light blue icing.

Let that icing crust over then fill in one of the ear sections as shown.

Step 2

Finish flooding the base by filling the remaining ear section. Let this icing dry for at least an hour.

Once dry, airbrush a gingham pattern on the cookie. I used this wide stripe stencil in my shop. I placed the stencil in a Stencil Genie and used Amerimist Wedgewood airbrush color in my gun.

Step 3

Finish this bunny cookie by adding a tail. I added a circle of white icing and then sprinkled over it with white nonpareils.

Step 4

Next up is the carrot pair cookie. Start by filling in alternating sections, like the top of one carrot with green icing and the bottom of the other with orange.

Let that icing set, then fill in the remaining sections the same way.

Step 5

For the finishing touches of these carrots, outline the green tops for definition. Then draw on the brown carrot lines. I used this Coffee Rainbow Dust Pen.

Step 6

For the final, center message cookie, begin by flooding the entire cookie with green icing. Let this icing dry completely.

In the shop is a new Happy Easter stencil you can use for the center message. Just swipe thick white royal icing over it to apply it to the cookie. The video below better illustrates how I did this.

Easter Bunny & Carrot Cookie Platter Video Tutorial

The steps above are summarized in this time-lapsed video I put together below.

Here's the final bunny & carrot cookie platter all assembled. To create this entire platter required 11 cookies-- 5 bunnies, 5 carrot pairs, and 1 center circle cookie.

This is the large, 12" version. For the tray it's on, I like to use the 12" pizza pans from Dollar Tree. They are cheap and sturdy for transporting around.
