To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template available for this new Christmas gingerbread mug cookie set.
You can download these cookie templates HERE.
If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
To decorate these cozy pumpkin mug cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- Light Brown Color royal icing (I mixed Americolor Orange, Americolor Electric Green, with a touch of Americolor Chocolate Brown and Americolor Super Black.)
- Red piping icing (I mixed Americolor Tulip Red with some of the light brown from above.)
- Pink icing (I mixed a little of the red icing above with more fresh white icing.)
- Green icing (I mixed Americolor Leaf Green with Lemon Yellow and a touch of Americolor Chocolate Brown.)
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
Step 1
For the gingerbread man top cookie, begin by outline the gingerbread man and fill in the first red section of the candy cane.
Then fill in the gingerbread section with light brown icing. Quickly add the pink cheek dots. Add the second red section of the candy cane.
Step 2
Once the brown icing had time to set, add the black eyes with the white accent dots. Then add the two red buttons.
Finally, fill in the white sections of the candy cane, followed by the white squiggles of the gingerbread man. Let this icing dry completely.
Step 3
Draw on the smile with a black food pen.
Step 4
For the mug cookie, begin by filling in the main mug area with green icing. After the icing sets, fill in the handle section with red icing, as shown.
Step 5
For the lettering, I made sure the base layer of icing dried completely.
In the shop is this warm winter wishes cookie stencil you can use for the lettering. Just swipe thick white royal icing over it to apply it to the cookie. The video below better illustrates how I did this.
