Template for the Shark Mouth Cookies

To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the new summer cookie cutter designs, including this shark-themed cookie set.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by cutting out the template and tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.

The Cookie Decorating Process

Decorating cookies always starts with a good royal icing recipe. This is my tried-and-true royal icing recipe that I always use.

For this shark cookie set, you will need the following suggested colors:

Step 1

Begin by filling in the mouth area with a thin layer of black icing. Let that icing set (about 15 minutes).

Then outline that mouth section with gum red icing. (I used a #2 piping tip for this.) Also, fill in the left section around the eye with dark gray icing.

Step 2

Next, carefully fill the right section around the mouth with light gray icing. Be careful not to cover up the red gum outline too much.

Then fill in the eye hole with black icing followed by white accent dots. Also, with white icing add every other tooth, being careful not to cover up the red gum line again.

Step 3

After those teeth had time to set up, add the remaining teeth detail.
