Template for the Halloween Broom Cookies

To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the designs of this year's Halloween collection, including this Halloween broom cookie.

Click the link below for the downloadable template PDF file.

This file is rather large in data size. Just a warning, it might take a moment before the file opens in your browser.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.

Step-By-Step Cookie Decorating Guide

Decorating cookies always starts with a good royal icing recipe. This is my easy royal icing recipe for decorating sugar cookies that I always use.

For the colors used for these Ghost cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:

Step 1

Begin by filling in the black background sections at the top and bottom, as shown.

Then fill in the remaining middle section with purple icing. Let this icing set for about 20 minutes.

Step 2

Next, add the two banner sections, as shown. Then add the top of the broom with yellow icing.

Once that icing had time to set, add the brown sections of the broomstick and the yellow bottom section of the broom.

Step 3

Add the finishing details like the banner outline, the white text, and the broom details.

Halloween Cookie Packaging Ideas

To package this witch’s broom cookie, I placed it in a 3"x12" clear cookie bag to keep it fresh and protected while still showing off the design. For extra support and a fun pop of color, I slid in one of our 2.625" x 8" witch-themed card backers, which also helps the cookie stand upright. To tie it all together, I added a coordinating gift tag that reads “Just a bunch of hocus pocus” on a bubbling cauldron and finished the look with a purple pre-tied bow. The result is a polished, festive presentation that’s perfect for gifting or selling at Halloween markets.
