If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.
The Cookie Decorating Process
Decorating cookies always starts with a good royal icing recipe. This is a great royal icing recipe that I love to use for decorating cookies.
For these skunk cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:
- White icing (I used Americolor Bright White.)
- Black icing (I used Americolor Super Black.)
- Gray icing (I used a tiny amount of Super Black.)
- Red icing (I used Americolor Super Red.)
Step 1
Begin by filling in the white belly section and the white portion of the tail, as shown. Also, fill in the left ear with gray icing. Let this icing set.
Then move on to filling the other ear, the left side lower leg, and the black portion of the tail.

Step 2
Next, fill in the right leg and the head section. For the head, I quickly piped the white and immediately followed with the black sides to create a smooth surface.
Once that icing had time to set, fill in the arm sections, as shown.

Step 3
Next, add the eyes and the lower white snout details on the face.
Then add the black nose and outline the arms and legs and white hair for more dimension.

Step 4
For a finishing touch, I draw on a small smile with a black food pen.

Step 5
For the coordinating heart message cookie, begin by flooding the entire cookie with red icing. Let this icing dry completely.
Then I used the "You're Stinkin' Cute!" Cookie Stencil with super thick white icing. I used a Stencil Genie to hold the stencil in place while I swiped icing over the design.

Just a reminder, I used the LARGE size for all of these cookies.

For the final presentation, I placed the cookies inside a clear cookie box with a hearts pattern card backer underneath to make the design pop. It’s a simple way to elevate your gift and give it a polished, professional look—perfect for Valentine’s Day gifting!
