With Thanksgiving now over, the Christmas season is officially in full-swing!

I'm excited to show you this next set of cookie designs. It's actually going to be a two-parter.

First up are these Santa Sleigh cookies. I'll show you how to decorate these sleighs today. But stay tuned because I'm going to follow this post with a separate tutorial on the flying reindeer design in the next day or so. They work wonderfully together as a pair or as a gift set of three.

Santa Sleigh Cookie Cutter

Recently added to the shop is this Santa Sleigh cookie cutter.

The size and dimensions of this Santa Sleigh cookie cutter was optimized to fit most gift box packaging options.

This cookie will fit perfectly in these 7″x4.25″ gift boxes or in this smaller 4″x4″ gift box. It will also work great in these longer cookie boxes as a 3-piece set.

Template for the Santa Sleigh Cookies

To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template of all the new Christmas designs, including the Santa Sleigh cookies.

You can download the new 2018 Christmas cookie templates HERE.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.

The Decorating Process

For these Santa Sleigh Cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:

Step 1

For those without a projector, mark the guidelines where the sleigh body and tree sections should be, as shown. I made a template with template plastic from the PDF file above and used a food marker to draw the guideline on the cookie.

Step 2

Begin by outlining and filling the red sleigh body area. Let this icing set for about 10 minutes.

Once the icing is set, move on to filling in the tree section with holly green icing. Let this icing set again for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Next, with yellow icing, add the star at the top of the tree and add the sleigh rail detail at the bottom. With the darker green icing, fill in the bag section. Let this icing set for another 10 minutes.

Add the white trim on top of the red sleigh body, as shown. Then add the ends of the bow tie on the bag.

Step 4

Finish up by adding the remaining bow tie details, as shown.

Then, pipe the final outlines around the sleigh, the tree and the bag to add definition.

And here they are again packaged in the new longer cookie box by BRP Box Shop. Isn't this presentation lovely?

As mentioned at the beginning of the post, don't forget to check back on this blog. I'll have the accompanying flying reindeer tutorial ready in the next day or so.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!
