I've gotten a lot of requests for sports cookie platters, and this baseball design is the first of hopefully many more of this sport series.

This platter has two designs- a bat with a ball, and a baseball mitt cookie. These two designs are repeated around a center circle cookie, which you can customize with a message of your choice.

Below are the steps I took to decorate these baseball cookies. You'll notice there's not many steps to complete them, which is what I love most about this platter. It's very beginner-friendly and quick to put together.

Baseball Platter Cookie Cutters

New for the summer season is this baseball cookie platter. This set includes 3 cookie cutters: a bat with a ball, a baseball mitt cookie, and a center circle. You can purchase all cookie cutters together, or as a 2-piece without the circle cutter.

(This is the same circle cutter used in all my platter sets, like this Snowflake set, Spiral Platter, and Floral Wreath, etc.)

There are two sizes available. When arranged as a platter, as shown in the example picture, the platter measures:

LARGE- 12 inches in diameter.

SMALL- 9 inches in diameter.

For this tutorial, I'll be decorating the large size.

Templates for the Baseball Cookie Platter

To help with the decorating process, I made a PDF template available for all the new summer cookie cutter designs, including this baseball platter set.

You can download these cookie templates HERE.

If you have a Kopykake or Pico projector, just print it out (or pull it up on your mobile device) and you are good to go. For those without a projector, follow the suggested steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker.

The Decorating Process

To decorate these baseball bat and mitt cookies, you will need the following suggested colors:

Step 1

For the mitt cookie, first flood the mitt glove area in brown icing, as shown. Let this icing set for about an hour.

Then add the darker brown line details.

Step 2

For the bat cookie, first fill in the two bat sections with tan icing. Let this icing dry completely.

Then airbrush a wood grain pattern with a stencil. I used a Stencil Genie with the Screen Genie attachment to ensure the airbrush pattern was clean and crisp.

Step 3

After the airbrushed lines had time to set, fill in the ball section with white icing and the grip section with red icing.

Lastly, add the grip lines and the baseball stitching with red icing.

For the center circle cookie, I added a baseball graphic using my pico projector. (You can see how I piped a similar message in this sunflower platter tutorial.)

Baseball Cookie Platter Video Tutorial

The steps above are summarized in this time-lapsed video I put together.

Here's the baseball cookie platter all assembled. To create this entire platter requires 11 cookies-- 5 bats, 5 mitts, and 1 center circle cookie.

This is the large, 12" version. For the tray it's on, I like to use the 12" pizza pans from Dollar Tree. They are cheap and sturdy for transporting around.
