  1. My First Cookie Design- Oregon Hoodie

After looking at inspiring cookies on the internet I thought to myself, “I can do that!”  Here was my first attempt at a custom cookie.

It’s an University of Oregon hoodie for my friend, Micah.  His birthday was coming up and I wanted to make something that I thought he would really appreciate.   He is kinda known for his hoodies- wearing one almost everyday.  This one in particular was one he wore quite frequently.

Overall, for my very first attempt at cookie making I think it came out pretty good.  But there were definitely bumps along the way.  The major issue I had was piping out the black icing.  The lines would break on me during mid-squeeze and giving me not-so-great results.

You can see from the up-close shot that the lines aren’t great.  However, I think I know where I went wrong.  I scoured the internet looking for help and I think I found my problem… consistency.  The icing consistency was too stiff.  It should have been thinned down just slightly for a smoother, piped line.  I’ll know this for next time.  I hope my next batch will be an improvement.

Oh! P.S.– Micah loved the cookies.
